STAMPIN' UP! VIDEO - Oh So Eclectic!

BUNDLE ALERT!

WOW!
What an incredible line of color! The Naturally Eclectic DSP is perfect for any occasion. There's also great crinkled seam binding ribbon, overlays and an unusual Thinlits Die.
You can see all of these products on page 132-133 in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.

The BUNDLE is for the Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set & Thinlits Dies.

You get 2-step stamping. When I look at the background for the full-face flower I see the glazing on a donut. Maybe that's because I've just finished showing you the May Paper Pumpkin as I type this. I have donuts on the brain.

And the die is great for creating your own stencil/ mask to use the Embossing Paste I showed you on June 24th.

I look forward to showing you what I have in mind for this set. In the mean time, check out the video from Stampin' UP!

FAST FIVE FRIDAY - Christmas in July - Day 8

This Fast Five is coming to you over the next few days. I chose to do a One Sheet Wonder, using a pattern for 12x12 I designed several years ago.

When I had finished cutting out all of the pieces, I modified some of them as they were auditioned against the card front. I still wound up with 18 cards but some of the pieces were trimmed to fit the 4.25" x 5.5" rather than the 5x7 they were initially designed for.

We are winding up our week with the Carols of Christmas:

After cutting the One Sheet, I cut 18 card bases from Whisper White in a combination of side fold (scored at the 4.25) or top fold (scored at the 5.5)

Then I then chose the Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green cardstock that coordinate with the Be Merry Designer Series Paper.  You can buy the coordinating cardstock pack that includes both the Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green as well as the Thick Whisper White.  I cut half of the mats (4" x 5.25") from each of the Cherry and Green. You'll see I turned some vertical and some horizontal.

Then I auditioned all of the One Sheet pieces to the mats to see how best to utilize all of the pieces and trim where needed. I kept the Carols of Christmas sentiments in mind... as to which Stitched Framelits I would use where.

Once I was finished, here's the five cards I came up with for this week:

Each of these cards could be tuned up by adding any of the die-cuts from the Carols of Christmas die set but Fast Five Friday is all about simplicity. I'd love to see what you do with the one-sheet. I don't have a PDF but I think the dimensions are clear enough in the picture above. If not, email me and I'll see what I can do about conversion.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Day 7 - Carols of Christmas

CAROLS OF CHRSITMAS!

Today's card is a top fold.

I've used Be Merry Designer Series Paper and Garden Green cardstock.

1) From an 8.5 x 11" sheet of Garden Green cut on the 8.5" at the 4.25. Score one of them on the 11" side at 5.5". Fold on the score line and firm with your bone folder.

2) Cut a mat 4" x 4.25" from the deer patterned paper in the Be Merry DSP. Set aside

This next step uses a non- SU product. Utilizing tools from our supplies is always a good idea. If I'd owned the Layering Square Framelits, I would have used the largest one and pieced the edges together.

3) Cut 2 strips from Whisper White 3-7/8" x 1/2".  Create a scalloped or other decorative edge on one side of each strip. Layer behind the designer series paper at the top and bottom.

4) From a strip of the green tree background paper from the Be Merry Designer Series paper, cut a strip 11" x 1". Find center then fold 1/4" on either side of that center mark with the tree pattern up to create a ribbon. Adhere this to your card base, then layer the mat from Step 3 on top, centering on the card base.

5) Cut a piece of Whisper White using the largest square in the Stitched Framelits. Round the corners.  Then stamp Peace On Earth in Versa Mark and emboss with the Gold Embossing Powder.

6) Use Whisper White cardstock scraps to stamp three poinsettia flowers and three of the holly leaves. I used Cherry Cobbler for the flowers and Garden Green for the leaves. Die cut these pieces out.

7) From two of the holly leaves, trim them out so that you have a 2-leaf and a single leaf from each.
Adhere the flowers and leaves as shown using the mono liquid glue. Adhere this mat to the center of the one from Step 4 using dimensionals.

This does come as a Bundle - meaning you save 10% when you buy both.... Beginning August 1!

As we did with the Eastern Beauty Suite in the Spring, this set will be available for Early Order beginning August 1 - before it is released in the Holiday catalog (launching Sept. 1)

Not only that, but you can get this stamp set early - before August 1 - as part of your kit when you choose to become a demonstrator.

Remember, back on Day 1 of this series I mentioned this stamp set....

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Day 6 - Carols of Christmas

CAROLS OF CHRISTMAS

This week is a simple layering card using Be Merry Designer Series Paper

Be Merry Designer Series Paper

The two separate layers using dimensionals are what give this card the pop factor while keeping the steps easy.

1) The striped DSP is matted on a 4.25x5.5 Whisper White card base. Then the white background mat is cut at 3.5 x 4.75  Stamp the ornament images (there are 2 variations in the set, I used both) in Pear Pizzaz.

2) On a separate piece of Whisper White, stamp Deck the Halls in Basic Black then trim out close around. The banner is 3/4" x 2.5" from Cherry Cobbler then notched at either end. I used Mono glue to adhere the banner then the whole piece is set with dimensionals.

3) Cut 2 strips 3/4" x 5.5" from Cherry Cobbler. Cut each one at a diagonal on both ends to create a ribbon end. Layer these on top of the Be Merry DSP background then adhere the full mat from Step 2 on top with dimensionals.

This does come as a Bundle - meaning you save 10% when you buy both.... Beginning August 1!

As we did with the Eastern Beauty Suite in the Spring, this set will be available for Early Order beginning August 1 - before it is released in the Holiday catalog (launching Sept. 1)

PAPER PUMPKIN - July

AS IS & WITH A TWIST

Paper Pumpkin hasn't posted their July unboxing yet so I'm sharing this video from one of my favorite SU dems on YouTube -

There are some really cute elements to this kit. They have almost a Spring quality to them. But I figured out how to turn one into a Christmas card. I'll show you that in With A Twist at the end of this post.

At first I wasn't sure I'd like these little wooden mountain pieces but they are pretty cool when you're finished. To position them within the circle opening, after putting the mountain scene according to the directions included in the kit, I turned the circle mat over and worked from the back:

I swirled a bit of the mono liquid glue below the circle opening then positioned the mountain scene accordingly, leaving a bit of space above the highest peak. The mom glue dries pretty quick. I also used the dimensionals for the sentiment tab.

I liked this springy card so much, I made two of them. Just changing the sentiment and it's position:

This next card was the absolute easiest card with a unique technique. I have to tell you, I have approximately 200 rolls of Washi Tape. So when I unboxed this kit yesterday, I had to get all excited and show Bob they'd included two rolls of washi. We have this thing when I'm shopping. If I'm anywhere near washi table displays he will say 'Step away from the washi'.

The watercolor background is pre-done. Just stamp the little star burts in Tranquil Tide.

When I first looked at the picture, I could not figure out what I was missing. I could not find this printed circle in the kit anywhere!  Well, all else fails read the directions...

Use your washi to make a BACKGROUND!  The circle is punched out from the circle frame in Card 1.

This final card uses the heart punch out from Card 2 & 3 as well as sticker strips from the kit.

Okay.. while this might not be the most ingenious Christmas card, it works.

I stamped around the circle opening with the sunburst in Tranquil Tide. Then applied Real Red Enamel Dots for accent. The sentiment from At Home With You fits perfectly on the provided sentiment strip. Next week, I'll show you an alternative to this design.

We're still doing Christmas in July and I have cards lined up for the rest of this week including a One Sheet Wonder for the Fab Five Friday. All the cards this week showcase the Carols of Christmas stamp set.... an Early Purchase available in August.

Paper Pumpkin is the easiest way to add to your All Occasion Card Stash. Never be left without a card for those last minute mailings. For $19.95, Paper Pumpkin will arrive in your mail box somewhere around the 17th of the month. You can sign up and cancel at any time. To receive the August Paper Pumpkin you must be signed up before August 10th. Go to Paper Pumpkin and select me as your demonstrator when prompted to receive a bonus gift from me.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Day 6 - Carols of Christmas

I absolutely LOVE this new set. So many fun possibilities and I can't wait to show some of them to you this week.

I'm going to jump right to the card with a quick apology. You were supposed to see this card last Tuesday. But we left for vacation on Tuesday morning. My plan was to upload to the blog once we were settled at the hotel. I had the memory card, the flash drive.... but failed to remember I could not upload them through my iPad. So none of the cards got uploaded.  I couldn't come in and tell you guys that because then the whole world would know that we were not at home. That wouldn't be a good idea. We have enough issues with some people thinking they can come on my property.

This design was inspired by the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown but we went on vacation last week and I did not get the card uploaded in time for the challenge... or to here. This was the layout:

This is the card I came up with using the Carols of Christmas set:

Due to the size of the three mats, I did this on a 5x7 card. I cut the base from Whisper White at 7 x10 then scored at the 5" mark on the 10" side.

The mats are cut from Dapper Denim at 1-3/4" x 2-1/4" Then the Whisper white at 1-1/2" x 2".

I stamped all of the images in Versa Mark then embossed with the Silver Embossing powder. I might have to make a few more of these.

If Paper Pumpkin arrives (my kit is on its way), I'll be posting those tomorrow and Wednesday. Otherwise, I'll be back to show you more designs from this cool set.  Did I mention....

BUNDLE ALERT!

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Fast Five Friday - Flurry of Wishes Part 2

Sincerest apologies for not posting this with the rest of the set on Friday. I got the cards finished but then had to run the bill errands before businesses closed. I know I should have had them already done and uploaded but there just are not enough hours in the day with my grandchildren here. Having them here is NOT like having kids every day 24/7. If they were here permanently, I could carve out working hours. But they are not. I only have them for a short time.  In a few short weeks they'll be winging their way back to their life in WA. When that happens, my routine will return to normal.

Speaking of Normal.... Sharon Madson brought to my attention I'd not posted the correct completed card photo on Friday of Card 1. I've put the correct photo in place on that post but here's a look at the REAL finished card:

CARD 1:

So here are the remaining four cards from Fast Five Friday.

CARD 2:

This first card is the only one I'm showing with actual 'step' photos. I used the Color Theory paper and left overs from card 1. After completing I realized I'd mixed Pacific Point with Dapper Denim. Oops.

The Color Theory mats are cut the exact size of the card front.
I layered the ombre strip first cut at 5.5 x 2.5. The paint splatter makes a blizzardy snow fall cut at 5.5x 2.5

I DID NOT adhere this to the card base right away. I only used the base to line the two mats up. Put your entire top layer together, then glue to your card base.

Start by laying the ombre strip first"

Then the blizzard piece:

This allows the snow to fall into the ombre. Even though you won't see this once the ribbon is in place, it bugged me in the beginning. ;-)

I layered the Silver Ribbon over the burlap. The burlap is cut at 5.5" but the silver ribbon does wrap over the end and secured on the back.

I wrapped the silver thread around 4 of my fingers approx. 4 times then secured with a thin glue dot on the back.

CARD 3:

Cut a piece of the ombre 5.5x2.25 then run through your embossing machine of choice using the Softly Falling EB folder.

TIP:  If you want the raised texture, place your paper in the folder with the Sizzix/ Stampin' UP! logo facing up. If you want the 'divet' texture then insert your paper with the copywrite symbol facing up.

I did switch over to the Dapper Denim cardstock for these remaining three cards. I stamped the sentiment in one of the existing circles from Card 1 then cut the next size up with the Stitched Framelits in Dapper Denim. I added the sequins from Metallics Embellishments and the 1/8" silver cord.

CARD 4:

This snowflake is layered using the two largest snowflakes from the set. The largest is embossed with the Silver embossing powder, the next one simply stamped with Dapper Denim then the smallest one embossed with Silver embossing powder. I was able to use the punch for the smallest one but the two others were fussy cut.

For my top layer, I used Dapper Denim cut 5.5x2.25 then wrapped twice with the silver ribbon. The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed with the silver embossing folder. Then the entire assembly adhered to a white card base.

CARD 5:

The simplest card of them all:

I did a tone on tone stamping of the snowflake on a 5.5x1.5" Pacific Point using Versa Mark. Both the snowflake and the Pacific Point mat are left from Card 1. I cut the next size up from the Silver Cardstock using the Stitched Framelits. The sentiment is stamped in Pacific Point.

There you are! Five additional Cards in various degrees of craftability. I hope you are following along and making your cards. I'd love to see so if you have a blog or gallery somewhere, please link me! You might get a little extra something from me.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Day 4 - Fast Five Friday - F:urry of Wishes

Okay.. so while I have five cards using the Flurry of Wishes stamp set, the more intensive card has multiple tips I want to share so I'm going to do that card first. Then the simpler CAS cards will follow. This first card is a perfect example of why I need to start filming YouTube videos. Unfortunately, they are not going to happen until the girls have gone. I've had to type this up in stages. LOL  If you are or have ever been a parent with small children, you get it.

I got the idea for this card from my up-line, Brandy Cox at Brandy's Cards. Her Sweet Moments medallion card is part of her 10 in 20 series... 10 cards in twenty minutes. My husband calls them 'cookie cutter cards'. I call them a quick way to build my stash so that I have cards on hand.

While I did make ten of these, I did NOT do them in twenty minutes. LOL Not with family interruptions and making them in stages. Also, I used thinlits rather than the 2" punch (which I do not have yet. I used what I had on hand) so that cutting took a bit more time than punching. But I think well worth the outcome.

I chose Pacific Point. This is made so the card is matted.
Cut 1 - 5.5 x 4.25 from Pacific Point.
Cut 1 white card base 8 x 5.25 - score the 8" side at the 4" mark and fold to create your card.

We will mat the card to the Pacific Point base at the very end.
For the circle, I used the closest die I had to a 2".. I think it's actually a 1-7/8". I opened the card, centered the die then ran it through my machine.

When I cut the white card, I was left with these:

Brandy had a great idea to use these to make our own washi tape image to coordinate with the stampset.

Because my snowflake was a bit narrower than her medallion, I secured mine to the graph paper in groups of two. Then stamped the snowflake in Pacific Point. I turned the stamp a 1/4 turn back and forth to 'nest' the flakes along the strip.

Then adhered each strip to the fold edge of the card:

Notice the blue ring? My husband thought that opening edge needed something, so I used the same size I used for the 1-7/8" and the next size up of the Stitched Framelits, nesting them together on the Pacific Point card stock like this:

This saved me a step in cutting the larger circle then cutting the center out to give me the ring.

When I'd finished cutting both the opening and the circle, I was left with these:

You will see them used in cards below.

I used the Tombo white glue to adhered the ring around the opening.

I stamped the second smallest snowflake in Pacific Point them punched them with the snowflake punch (discontinued). While that is no longer available, I did cut one out to see how well a fussy cut would do. Went quick and is almost hard to pick out from the other 9 that were punched.

I added a dimensional to the center back of each one and with the card closed, centered a snowflake in the opening.

I used the sentiment from the set and the double banner punch. I stamped the sentiment on Whisper white and punched it out then punched the full banner out of Pacific Point and layered the two. I used dimensionals to layer the banner to the card front.

TIP: to help line up the small piece of cardstock with the sentiment and hold it in place, I stuck a post it note to the edge to use as a handle. Finally, layer the card to the Pacific Point base. Here's another look at the final card:

Note shown: I added a bit of bling to the center of each snowflake.

Okay, the next four cards have a lot less steps. I'll show you the card and dimensions. If you have questions, please email me :-)
