GRAND GIRLS - Embossing Paste & Sponge Brayers

Thanks for understanding about moving yesterday's post to today. Some days there just are not enough hours to go around.

This week we focused on the Embossing Paste since that was Saturday's video and the Sponge Brayers. We also used 4 colors from both the 2016-2018 In Colors and the 2017-2019 In-Colors:  Berry Burst, Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy and Peek A Boo Peach. Abby at 5 did a pretty good job of filling in the holes. We used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and the girls got to choose which one they wanted to work with. Abby chose the all over diamond patter which made an excellent background where Adrian chose the medallion and did a very pretty card.

Abby spreading the Embossing Paste

Abby's on the left and Adrian's on the right

We spread the paste then set them aside to dry while we used the brayers on the Inside the Lines DSP (retired). I'll be showing you that as a bonus post when I need a filler as the summer progresses. We set them aside to dry and the girls got in the big jacuzzi tub sans jets to play with their tub markers and Barbies. The tub is like an indoor pool for them and lets this grandma get some stuff done ;-) And no sun burn!

Once the embossing paste had dried, they used the Sponge Brayers to add color to the raised surface.

Here are the girls finished cards:

Abby chose one of the sentiments from Beautiful You and the heart from Bloomin' Love.
She went over her background with the brayer and Emerald Envy. The sentiment is matted on a piece of the DSP she used the brayer on.
She chose a Berry Burst card base and Emerald Envy for her heart mat.

Adrian used Berry Burst all the way around for a striking card from a 9-year old.
She also chose a sentiment from Beautiful You.
For hers we chose just to add a bit of bling to an already beautiful background.
She learned about auditioning colors and using odd numbers of embellishments.

I think they did a fabulous job!

For now, Subway is calling our name then the dog needs a vet trip. Never a dull moment.

GOAL SETTING

I'm going to post Grand Girls projects tomorrow. Time got away from us yesterday and while we got the basics done, there was drying time involved and my cleaning so they'll be putting their cards together after breakfast and I'll post them tomorrow.

In the mean time, I thought I'd show what I'm up to.

I am big on Goal Setting. I'm also a very visual person. When other team leaders were talking about creating Bingo Boards for their members to inspire them to reach their goals, I thought why not one for me? I used to use all types of tracking visuals when I sold UndercoverWear and House of Lloyd... and they worked!

So I made a list of things I need to work on in able to grow my business. Then I printed them out on cardstock and cut them with our Stitched Framelits die. You'll notice a couple cut the corners a bit but the concept is still there.

So that I can move these around or switch them out for other tasks I need to work on, I glued the 'tooth' side of a velcro dot to each square on the board. Then I glued a square of white felt to the back of each card, making moving them easy.

But what would I use for Bingo Markers?  I used our retired Itty Bitty Butterfly punch and punched out the butterflies from our new In Colors and stuck a removeable glue dot on the back of each one. Since making the board I've been able to put a butterfly on FB Profile Picture, Catalog Launch and Crafting Forever (stamp set)

The stamp sets I have listed, such as Crafting Forever, are there to remind me to USE sets I've ordered and to show them to you in a timely manner.

Okay.. so what happens when I get a bingo?  I'm giving myself $25 for every Bingo I get by the time the Holiday Catalog launches this fall. That is a potential $300 if I get a bingo every way possible. And if I get a complete blackout before my Pre-Order date August 1 then I'm giving myself a bonus $50.   That's $42 in FREE product that I can show you. PLUS I can begin building my Bingo Board towards the Spring Sale A Bration 2018 to earn even MORE FREE PRODUCT!

What I hope to show you is how easy it is to Earn Free Product for your business when you join my Stampin' UP! team. And when you are earning from a customer base, that money doesn't come out of your pocket.. it comes from you 20-25% commission! If I can earn FREE Product out here in the sticks - you can earn FREE Product anywhere you live!

Watch my sidebar for the Bingo Board picture to change and see my spending spree grow!

STAMPIN' UP! VIDEO - Embossing Paste

Embossing Paste is a popular technique in the mixed media community but I feel it is overlooked in the card making and scrapbooking areas. I have colors of embossing paste as well as a similar product from the hardware store that I've used in my art journals so I'm super excited to have this product in my Stampin' UP! arsenal of toys.

The Embossing Paste and Stencils (masks) are sold on page 201 of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog and you'll find the picture tutorial on page 176.

But for a great visual tutorial, check out this video from Stampin' UP!

PAPER PUMPKIN - June As Is & Twist

I apologize for no post yesterday. My grandgirls come first this summer and I swore I would not work if they wanted to do something. We also started 'summer school' yesterday.

So here we are today with As Is and Twist on the same day... plus a video to show you.

What a cute kit for June! Nothing says summer like Watermelon!

First, I made the bag:

The bag measures 4" x 5.5" so it's a pretty decent sized gift bag.

Then I did the card:

That tropical paper is just super cute! And here's the envelope I did with the card:

Tying bows and knots is one of those ambidextrous techniques that takes multiple hands but we only have two. I don't recall where I saw this tip (maybe on Beary Wishes as well) but I think it's ingenious!

Hobby Tweezers to hold the first stage of your knot in place. Here's a close-up:

For my Twist... one is mine and one is from the YouTube channel of Beary Wishes. I want to try her twist but there just were not enough hours in the day yesterday... especially after the 5 year old collided with a door knob while she and sissy were playing tag. Doesn't matter how many times you tell them NOT to run in the house... they have to find out the hard way.

I used the existing banner as a template and cut out a slightly larger one in Melon Mambo. Stamped the greeting in Emerald Envy. I used Daffodil Delight to duplicate the watercolor background on the inside of the card then overstamped HOORAY in Melon Mambo.

The technique I really want to try is using the watermelon rind for a RAINBOW! Kathie from BearyWishes is ingenious and I can not wait to try this:

Watermelon technique begins at about 12:10

And if you need a little crafting music, here's a throwback tune from Tracy Byrd:

Bob comes home today so I'm off the rest of the week. I have a video scheduled but should have some good things up next week.

PAPER PUMPKIN - June

The girls and I did play with reinkers and glossy cardstock yesterday. As Adrian (9) proclaimed, 'I like art day'.

However, I took all the pictures on my phone and haven't moved them to the computer yet. Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks when I show you what we do with the wild and crazy backgrounds they made.

In the mean time, my June Paper Pumpkin should arrive tomorrow. I am soooo excited! Such a FUN summer kit as you'll see in the company video below. Tomorrow, I hope to get in and show you my AS-IS creations then Thursday, wait until you see how one demonstrator inspired me to use the stamp set from this kit!

STAMPIN' UP! VIDEO - Hello Friend

As we learn new techniques, some of the classics seem to fall by the way side. That's why I was happy to see Stampin' UP! highlight Heat Embossing.

You'll find Hello Friend Heat Embossing Project Kit on page 17 of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.
Page 16 showcases some projects using this kit.

You will need to purchase the Hello Friend stamp set (shown on page 17) to go with the kit.

Here's a great video from Stampin' UP! showcasing this fun technique kit!

FUN WITH THE GRANDGIRLS! - Father's Day Cards!

The grandgirls have arrived and we are in full FUN mode. They both love to craft and very artistic so once a week I'll be sharing one of our projects using Stampin' UP! products.  This week we began with Father's Day cards. They won't be home to spend the day with him so I wanted to give them the opportunity to get cards in the mail to him.

Kids love messy stuff so I started with the Shaving Cream technique. If you're not familiar with this technique, I'm including a YouTube video. I have to say this is as much fun for the kid in all of us.

The girls used all Stampin' UP! products so I thought this would be a great share for the blog. It's important to remember, that while we have fun playing with our toys, there are great projects for the kids too. Doing crafting with them allows them to express themselves and take a break from the heat. So here we go!

Our pages:

I have the larger pieces. I thought showing them the process was a good opportunity for me to get some backgrounds made for my own projects.

Here is Abby's background. She is 5

She chose Melon Mambo, Old Olive and Basic Black. We added a bit of glitter for fun.

This is her card:

I can't remember the set the heart is from. It's from a retired set. The sentiment is from Suite Sentiments. She used the Stitched Framelits for the heart mats

And here's Adrian's. She's 9

Adrian chose Real Red, Marina Mist and Black.

And here's her card:

She chose So In Love (retired). She wanted to make a bow from Wonderous Wreath so I pulled out the Red Glitter. Adrian also got to try the Watercolor Pencils. Because she is older she got to play a bit more so she dusted color on the edges of her mat with the finger daubers.

Both girls got to use the Vagabond to do their diecuts. Adrian will probably get more time working with the Vagabond.

I'm not sure what we'll play with next week. I hope you'll come back to see what we do.

STAMPIN' UP! Video - Designer Series Paper

I would have run this video to kick off the New Catalog launch but I wanted to get that Wood Words bundle in place in time for Father's Day.

So this week, I want to introduce you to the AMAZING collection of Designer Series Paper we launched on June 1. Stampin' UP! released FIFTEEN new Designer Series Papers this year. That is truly a Whole Lot of Lovely! They've also listened and have left the paper packs loose - meaning no adhesive on one side to have to separate the pages. We also have more in 6x6 - perfect for the cardmaker but perfectly adaptable to our new Making Memories or traditional scrapbooking.

I can't give you a specific page to see these papers. Pour yourself a favorite beverage, curl up in a comfy spot and cruise the pages. Keep your shopping list handy. You will want every single pattern!

Take a look at the video then leave a comment to win a sample of some of these beautiful new designs!

We'll make embellishments and little additions for our planner in each post. STAMPIN' UP! VIDEO - Wood Textures Suite

Before you read further, Please check out the NOTE at the top of Thursday's post regarding the bonus hostess program. I made a boo boo - but it's in your favor ;-)

This set from Stampin' UP! puts me in the mood for fall. Not that I need any encouragement. Fall is my favorite season. But this set evokes memories of going to Tanners Orchard in Central IL. You pick pumpkins and apples plus lots of activities for the kids, bluegrass music over the loud speaker throughout the main building and gift shop and fresh from the oven apple cider donuts coated in sugar. Oh YUM! Tanners is an autumn experience not to be missed. Okay, so I've missed the past ten years but I'm hoping to make up for that this fall.

In the meantime, I have this lovely set to play with.

First we have Wood Words Bundle - BUNDLE ALERT! which includes the Wood Words stamp set (15 rubber stamps) and the Wood Crate Framelits Dies.

Add in gorgeous Wood Textures Designer Series Paper pack (6x6), Copper Trim or our Burlap Ribbon and the possibilities are endless.

You'll find everything on page 159 of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog
as well as design ideas on page 158.

To order these or any items from the catalog, simply click on the catalog cover on my sidebar to be taken to my store. Type in my name and you're all set. If you have questions, please feel free to email me.

For now, here's the great video from Stampin' UP!

Know that Stampin' UP! is on top of these minor set-backs and working hard to get the amazing new products in your hands as quickly as possible.

You receive $125 in Product of YOUR CHOICE for $99.. and FREE Shipping!  Choose the products YOU WILL USE. You will never be stuck with product that does not fit your crafting style.

Why I Became A Demonstrator:
I have been through multiple demonstrators over the course of my almost 20 years as a customer. I always seemed to be on the hunt for a new rep every time a catalog came out. I never knew when specials were released or what was going on. When I did have reps, I was constantly having to ask for the mini catalogs and Sale A Brations.

Last year, when I failed to get yet the newest round of Occasions/ Sale A Brations catalog I told Bob I'd had it. I LOVE Stampin' UP! but I shouldn't have to beg for catalogs to put money in someone else's pocket. We decided, that as busy as I am already I would sign up as a hobby dem. I had to budget to keep my status as long as I wanted and if I picked up a few orders along the way, that was a bonus.

Here I am one year later and still loving it. I'm finding out how much I missed from my reps as a customer and try my best every day to be a better demonstrator for my customers.

If you'd like to know more, please use the contact form on my side-bar and I'll get with you ASAP.

So make that shopping list!
Creative Blessings!
