FAB FIVE FRIDAY - Dragonfly Dreams

Today, I'm kicking of FAB FIVE FRIDAY!
Fab Five Friday is about taking ONE stamp set and making FIVE cards. These are great for resupplying your stash of cards or getting a jump on an all- occasion set.

The ONLY Exception to Fab Five is that you may use any other stamps to add your own personality to the cards. The Fab Five stamp set is a FOCAL set.

With that in mind, here is our Focal Stamp Set/ Bundle for this week.

Today is your last opportunity to order from the Spring Occasions 2017 Catalog.

With that in mind, I wanted to take one last opportunity to entice you with one of my favorite bundles from the catalog.  DRAGONFLY DREAMS! This set has so many possibilities. I've used the 'Enjoy Your Special Day!' sentiment from the set as I have a lot of birthdays coming up.

Taking one set is what FAB FIVE FRIDAY is all about! Five ways to use one stamp set or bundle.

My inspiration for today's first Fab Five Friday post came from a YouTube video by Barb Stamps. Barb showcased OVER 40 different cards from her swap group on using this set. I chose five of my favorites to CAS and switch up a bit. So let's get started!

NOTE: All card bases are 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"

Card #1 -

Color My World

For this card I used Pacific Point CS/ Ink and the DSP INSIDE THE LINES from the SAB catalog. I added a scattering of color using the Watercolor Pencils.

I die cut the dragonflies in flight from Pacific Point  (111350) as well as the 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" mat. The sentiment is stamped in Pacific Point ink (126951).

Card #2 -

Falling In Love

For this card, I chose Lost Lagoon  (Mint Macaron 138337 would make a good substitute)  and Night of Navy (100867) and a sheet of DSP from Falling In Love (142788)

The base is Lost Lagoon. Cut a piece of Falling In Love at 2-1/2 x 5 -1/2. I was careful to position the paper so to get a prominent section of all the flowers/ stems from the sheet. The Night of Navy pieces on either side are 1-1/2" x 5 -1/2". If you watch Barb's video you will note the card she showed used glitter paper where I've used the Night of Navy.

The sentiment banner base is 2-3/4" x 1" then notched. the sentiment mat is cut from Very Vanilla (101650) at 3/4" x 2-3/8"

Card #3:

Watercolor Wonder

This was my husband's favorite.
The base is Blushing Bride CS (131198). The Basic Black (121045) mat is cut at 4" x 5-1/4". The Whisper White (100730) is cut at 3-3/4" x 5"

I didn't use any rhyme or reason for the coloring. I used the Watercolor Pencils (141709) in Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo to scribble off patches of color then went back over them with the Aqua Painter (103954) to blend them out. I got the Daffodil Delight spot a little to wet so it didn't take the color from the stamped image very well, but gave the wing a bit of dimension.  The dragonflies are stamped in Rich Razzleberry. I stamped the one in the bottom with a full ink and the one at the top is ghost stamped.

The sentiment mat is 2-3/4" x 1" in Blushing Bride and the sentiment mat is from Whisper White at 3/4" x 2-1/4"  I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels (119246)

Card # 4:

Leaves In Flight

My base for this one is embossed with a Sizzix Branches and Leaves folder on Pistachio Pudding (Pear Pizzaz 131201 would be an awesome substitute)  The Whisper White mat is cut at 3-1/4" x 4"

The sentiment is stamped in Flirty Flamingo (141397).
This card has a bit of  'order' to it.

Step 1 - Stamp the dots from the bundle in Pink Pirouette in the bottom corner. This helps with placement of the Dragonfly.

Step 2 - Stamp the Dragonfly directly on the card in Flirty Flamingo

Step 3 - Stamp the Dragonfly on Vellum (101856) using Pink Pirouette (126956)  then coat with Clear Embossing Powder (109130) and heat set.  Once the embossing powder is heat set and no longer tacky, die cut with the lacy wing die.

Step 4 - Apply adhesive to just the body portion of the vellum dragonfly and adhere on top of the stamped dragonfly on the card base.

Step 5 - Cut one of the Lace Doilies (142793)  in half and adhere to the bottom edge of the mat from the back so that the white side of the doily shows on the front. Adhere the completed mat to the card base.

And finally - Card #5:

Honey Pot

I stepped away from the dragonflies to showcase the bee on this one.
The card base is So Saffron (105118)

The Chocolate Chip (102128) mat is 4" x 5-14".

The Very Vanilla (101650) mat is cut at 3-3/4" x 5"

Ink up the side of the Woodgrain Textured Embossing Folder (127821) with Chocolate Chip Ink (126979) then place the Very Vanilla mat inside and run through the Big Shot. Layer your mats together - Base, Chocolate Chip, Embossed Very Vanilla.

Die Cut the small jar from Vellum then ink. Stamp the outline and color the back side with So Saffron. Add 'Honey' with a black Perma pen.

I cut three butterflies (Jar of Cheer set) from So Saffron then nipped off the heads and layered the pieces along the edge of the jar for honey drips.

The circle in the center is die cut from Baked Brown Sugar (Crumb Cake 120953 would also work) with one of the ornament dies from Merriest Wishes (Holiday catalog) I use this a lot but I'll be adding circle dies to my supplies very soon.

Finally, since I don't have the honeycomb folder yet (ordering today), I used a piece of yellow contractor's drywall tape from my stash.

And there you have Five Fabulous cards from one stamp set. The only exceptions are where I used other pieces for accent. These additions are part of adding your own personality to the cards.

Next week we will get ready for Easter with the BASKET BUNCH Bundle

I can't wait to show you what I've done with the components of the March Paper Pumpkin. Let's Get Started!

I began by pulling one of each of the gift cards and cutting each one apart on the fold. This gave me two mats to work with. You can see that here in the first card:

For the first one, I chose the multi- color mat, a Sweet Sugar Plum base and a Dapper Denim mat. To me, the colors brought the Lift Me Up Bundle to Mind

Lift Me Up Clear-Mount Bundle

I stamped the larger of the 2 balloons in the center of the mat, then ghost stamped the same image at the edges.

I used the Peek a Boo Peach floss from the Paper Pumpkin kit to accent below the Sentiment mat. I punched the base mat for the sentiment from the other half of the note card with the Curly Label punch. The sentiment is stamped on Whisper White.  Both the image and sentiment mats are popped up with dimensionals. I think this one is going across the pond to a fellow stamper I've not sent something to in a very long time.

Next, I went the direction of Easter.

I used the Peek A Boo Peach base and the solid basket dies from Basket Bundle.

Basket Bunch Photopolymer Bundle

In case the washi wanted to stick to the paper (as it sometimes does when running through the die cutting system), I cut from the back.

I used a Mint Macaron base. After drawing a light pencil line just below where the top of the basket would come on the mat, I cut the Easter egg trio apart then stamped them in various colors across the line. I stamped one on scrap cardstock and used it as a mask so that I could layer the eggs. Then I popped the basket base and handle up with our Foam Adhesive Strips. I used Mint Macaron to stamp the Happy Spring sentiment onto one of the small banner strips from the kit.

To fill the lower part of the card, I used three of the inner ear pieces that matched and laid them end to end. Then I used the small flower from Basket Bundle - punching them out of the larger ear liner pieces from the kit. I die cut the flowers then stamped the matching image.  I used Emerald Envy to stamp the grass from Basket Bundle across the bottom.

Finally, I have a Christmas card for you - using the whiskers and eye stamps from the Paper Pumpkin kit.  I got the idea from Steph VanDorp on YouTube. For her twist, she used the whiskers to create an Easter Wreath. Very clever!

I used Emerald Envy for the base as well as the image mat and sentiment strip. I topped them all with Whisper White.

I used Merriest Wishes from our Holiday catalog for the image as well as to designate the center of the wreath. I used the die that would cut out the center of the wreath to create a mat to stamp my whiskers around. I centered the circle in the center of my 2-3/4 white mat.

Notice at the top left, the base of the whispers is butted right up against edge of the mat. This helped with spacing so that they center of the wreath would still look rounded and center when I removed the mask.

I stamped the whiskers first in Mint Macaron, spaced about 1/8" apart around the circle then filled in the spaces with Emerald Envy, making sure to over-stamp the left whisker over top of the previous Mint Macaron whisker.

I stamped the bow from Basket Bundle in Real Red then colored it in. I think for future cards, I will die-cut the bow from Real Red or even the Red Glitter cardstock.  Note, when stamping the holly berries (using the eyes stamp from the kit), I didn't notice til I was done that the red had been smearing. So I made another one. I wanted to show you that everyone - even me - makes mistakes. LOL

Here's the finished card:

I also used the sentiment from Merriest Wishes.

I'm not sure something will post tomorrow but I should have something up on Friday. I'm finally getting over this cold and can get back to playing! Yay!!!

I've shown you mine - please show me yours!

I was in love as soon as I saw this kit:  What is cuter than BUNNIES? Okay, maybe kittens and puppies. LOL But this month's kit has so many possibilities.

I made the card first.

This is a 3x3 card. Great for attaching to an Easter Basket or using as a mat on a card front/ gate fold card addition.

Then I went to the bags. I made one each for my granddaughters, plus their mom and dad.

Easter chocolate bars

I used markers to add their name to one of the provided tags, then stamped Happy Easter from the stamp set to match. I punched a hole on one end of each with an 1/8" hole punch then attached them to the bags with the embroidery floss that came in the kit.

And a close up:

The only thing this close-up doesn't show is what I did to the girls' bags. I used a different version of the bunny nose/ mouth that made the nose look like a heart. So I used a marker to make the heart-shaped nose pink.

And if you think these are adorable... wait til you see what I do on Thursday with the Twist... I think I hear Christmas carols!

Just a quick pop in to let you know I am still battling this horrible cold. Instead of time in the studio yesterday, creating, I spent most of the day in the recliner writing blog posts.  No studio time at all.

However, I am going to share with you the Paper Pumpkin video. This month's kit is just too adorable for words!  I know I say this about almost every kit but this one just makes me smile. Tomorrow I'll have my Paper Pumpkin post and the Twist on Thursday!

In the mean time, enjoy the show!

Hi everyone!

Popping in with an apology for lack of creativity going on in the studio the past few days. I've been bogged down with health items with the hubby and preparing for and attending a writers conference in AR. And wouldn't you know it, this would be the weekend we get our first snow of the season!

After my dentist appointment in the morning I will know how soon I will get back home. I have an SU order due for delivery on Tuesday so lots of stuff to show off. I'm also adding Five Card Friday - hopefully this week. 1 stamp or stamp/ die set with FIVE different card sketches or techniques. I can't wait to show you!

In the mean time, check out this video from Stampin Up showcasing one of the new Sale A Bration items.

Remember, there's only TWO WEEKS LEFT to take advantage of Sale A Bration. Occasions catalog items are good until May 31 WHILE SUPPLIES LAST! If there are still items you want.. don't wait til the last minute.

Creative Blessings!
