I love the September Paper Pumpkin Kit. The stamp set allows both Halloween and Autumn themes. I apologize for not having these up sooner but I got inspired to do that Designer Series Paper organization and was determined to finish that project before clearing the desk for another task.
The food-grade treat tubes are the cutest addition to any of the Paper Pumpkin kits so far. The first thing I thought of was to create Halloween gifts and cards for my granddaughters, Adrian and Abi. I'm going to fill them with their favorite candy - M & Ms. I'll do the minis so they'll get more :-D
Please excuse the nail file in the photo. I was using that to keep the tubes from rolling away. LOL
The second weekend in October I will be attending a writers conference in Eureka Springs Arkansas. We are celebrating our 50th Anniversary of the conference. I've been going to the Ozark Creative Writers conference for over twenty years. Each year, I surprise my roommates with a little something. These treat tubes are just perfect!
Most of the ladies drink coffee, so I've tucked a single serve packet of instant coffee into the tube. The other tube has hot cocoa mix. I will tuck these little treats into their gift bag along with other little travel essentials.
I also knew I wanted to make cards with this kit. While the Treat Tubes are fun, cards are the happy mail in everyone's box.
I love to share my love for the season with my friends and customers. So these cards went in the mail last week. I'm hoping they get them before this post goes live. LOL
Everything on this card came in the September Paper Pumpkin kit with the exception of ths Halloween Nights enamel dots. You will find those in the Holiday catalog (page 51), Item # 142025.
I used Pumpkin Pie cardstock for the base and Old Olive and Whisper White for the mats.
The pumpkin in the kit is designed for 2-step stamping. Stamp the base of the pumpkin, then using the same color, stamp the 'shadow' image over top. The photo polymer stamps make lining the images up super easy.
To give the pumpkins the appearance of being behind one another, stamp your first pumpkin in the center, then stamp the same image on a piece of post-it note. The post it note image creates a mask. Here's a video from MonkeeSee to show you how easy this technique is:
I worked my way out from the center pumpkin in either direction. So, mask the center pumpkin, then stamp the next one to the left. Move the mask to that pumpkin and stamp the next one to the left.
Then I put the mask back on the center pumpkin and repeated the process going to the right.
You need to use your mask when you stamp the base pumpkin AND when overstamping the shadow.
I glued the white mat to a piece of Old Olive cut 1/4" wider (but the same length) as the mat.
Using the floss included in the kit, I wrapped this around the matted strip, securing the ends on the back with a glue dot or bit of adhesive. Then I took another piece of the floss, about 3", and slipped it under the threads on the front left of the strings and tied a knot.
I stamped a nother pumpkin image (both base and shadow) on a piece of Whisper White, then added the jack o lantern face. I cut this one out and adhered him over the center pumpkin with dimensionals to pop him up.
Then I glued this entire strip to the front of the Pumpkin Pie card base.
I used bit of Old Olive with one of the banner strips from the kit in the upper left corner. Using one of the images from the stamp set, I stamped on one of the man pumpkin tags.
Enamel Dots gave this card some added texture and pop of color.
